Saturday was a pleasant day. Especially after the weather over the long weekend. Decided to watch our grandson play junior footy in Jan Juc, & follow this with a picnic lunch in Torquay.
What to have??? There were a few options, but fish & chips won out in the end.
We ordered a piece of fish each, & medium chips. With chicken salt, instead of plain salt.
The fillet of fish was nice & thick, the batter thin & crisp. Both the fish, & chips were golden in colour. & hot. Couldn't have asked for more.
We parked our car in the park car park for free. Even though it was busy, parking was reasonably easy, & we walked to the fish shop.
Service was quick & efficient. & we were soon eating. Surprisingly, we didn't have to share our lunch with seagulls! Total cost of our order came in @ $30.80.

Best fish and chips we have had in a while. We are lucky we found this gem in the heart or Torquay. The batter is light and fluffy and fish was nice and fresh. Their grilled fish has a lovely herb mix on it and the best we have had in a very long time. Staff also took their time and explained their specials for the day! We chose the barramundi and did not dissapoint one bit! We will definitely be back for more.

Have been a few more times since my initial review, pop in every time we come here to visit our daughter. The mini spring rolls are also amazing, the crispy battered scallops would have to be the best in Victoria 👍🏼
Best crumbed flake, prawns, scallops and potato cake we've ever had👍🏼 The batter was so light and crispy and the fish and scallop were very fresh. Ignore the lower star reviews from a few months ago, the new owner has changed the supplier of the seafood, changed the type of oil used in the deep fryer and has a new recipe for the batter. Do yourself a favour and try this place! You will not be disappointed .

I recently visited this fish and chip shop, and I have to say, I was really impressed. The food was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, with crispy batter and fresh fish that just melted in your mouth. The chips were golden and perfectly seasoned. The service was just as great, with friendly and welcoming staff who made the whole experience enjoyable. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to for more!

Captain’s catch is a fresh take on your local fish and chip shop run by a friendly team with a passion for good food and sharing their love for feeding the community they serve. I had the grilled barramundi that had a tangy, delicious flavour (don’t forget a spritz of lemon!) and the fried calamari which was perfectly crunchy on the outside and buttery soft in the inside. Pop in and say hi to Josey and his friendly team and support a local business that love what they do!
